Shorts Cuts is a regular feature of Live's New Writing Studio Sessions. The event, which takes place in the intimate setting of Live's Studio Theatre, aims to unearth fantastic new scripts and offers audiences the chance to vote for their favourite ten minute play or extract.
For the next Short Cuts we’re doing something a little different. As well as reading the best of your entries, we’ll be showing some of Craig Taylor’s One Million Tiny Plays about Britain (originally printed in The Guardian and recently staged in Glasgow to critical acclaim) and asking some of our group of emerging writers to write their own Tiny Plays in response.
So, taking inspiration from these pieces of micro theatre, the theme is: MILLIONS
Remember, you can interpret the theme in any way you choose – the less obvious and the more tangential the better!
Short Cuts is only open to writers based in the UK.
How to submit your script:
Email your script as a word document to degna@live.org.uk.
All Short Cuts scripts are considered anonymously so please make sure that your name does not appear anywhere on the script itself.
Plays should be around 10 minutes long. Unfortunately, we can’t accept excerpts from longer plays.
The deadline for submissions is Monday 16 August.
